ATTENDANCE
Attendance is extremely important as we add new material to the show each week. If you know your child has an unavoidable conflict, please let us know ASAP via email to Ms. Vanessa so that we can work the rehearsal schedule around that. We would hate to schedule your child's BIG number only to find out that they won't be attending that day. Each student and every rehearsal are important. The expectation is that they are working on lines and music at home always, but that in no way replaces what is done with the full cast in rehearsal.
GENERAL NTS INFO…..
DROP OFF / PICK UP
We are located at 106 Page Road, behind the Shell Station. We open the doors at your class / rehearsal time.
DROP OFF...Please ALWAYS PARK IN A PARKING SPACE, we do not have a hook up line. Once you have parked you may walk your child to the door, or they may walk themselves if you feel they are capable and safe.
PICK UP...Please ALWAYS PARK IN A PARKING SPACE, we do not have a hook up line. Once you have parked you may meet your child on the front porch. We do not want children running into a dark parking lot to meet parents. Older students may walk to their cars, but most students will need a parent to meet them on the porch.
WHAT TO BRING? ALWAYS.... :)
Everyone should have a designated "theatre bag". If you already have a dance bag, you may use that!
*Dance shoes (for dance classes and productions). Ladies - Jazz or Ballet Shoes, Gentlemen - A converse Style shoe.
These shoes should NEVER be worn outside, you will change when you arrive.
*Your script, if you have one
*Pencils / highlighter
*Water bottle with your name on it
*Extra hair bands are a good idea too!
WHAT TO WEAR TO REHEARSAL EACH WEEK?
Ladies:
A leotard or form fitting athletic shirt, no large, baggie shirts with leggings or dance shorts
(NO RUNNING SHORTS, PLEASE)
Jazz Shoes (tan preferred). Sweatshirts are welcome as needed!
Hair should be pulled back BEFORE you enter the room.
Gentlemen: Athletic short or pants and a t-shirt. Black converse style shoes.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED FOR DRESS REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES IN MARCH:
Students should come to ALL rehearsals at Julia Green in their Base Layer (see below) and hair and make up.
We will talk more about hairstyles closer to the date of the performance! Please go ahead and start ordering and gathering these items now, as they are mandatory for all staging reh, dress reh and performances.
Ladies:
BASE LAYER = Capezio Light Suntan Tights and a Suntan Leotard.
You can purchase these on Amazon or at Spell’s across the street from St. Thomas Hospital on Harding Road.
We know delivery times are uncertain, please plan ahead and be SURE your child has these by dress rehearsal! Black or tan jazz shoes.
Everyone should arrive for staging, dress rehearsal and performances in their Base Layer and hair and make up. They should wear a button down or zip up shirt or jacket over their Base Layer. The Base Layer is an undergarment and should not be worn alone without something over it.
NO jewelry or Nail Polish, Hair Bands should be the color of their hair, or neutral..no pink, green, etc…
HAIR: Should be slicked back into a neat hairstyle. 2 high ponytails, 2 braids, 1 ponytail or bun, but NO whispies.
Starting with wet hair and using gel or a TON of hairspray will achieve the slicked back look, which everyone should have.
MAKE UP: Brown eyeshadow, bright blush, mascara and L’Oreal Red Lipstick (you can purchase this at Walgreens or Kroger).
Gentlemen: Tight fitting / compression short and shirt to wear under their costume. Below are links of ideas for compression shorts and shirts that work well.
UNDERSHIRT. SHORTS
We have communal dressing areas, so please be sure they have on “underclothes” that will fit under their costume. Black converse style shoe.
HAIR: Hair should be neatly slicked back with gel or other products.
MAKE UP: We will apply powder as needed.
IMPORTANT INFO RE: JULIA GREEN for PRODUCTION WEEK
Please remember that all rehearsals at Julia Green are mandatory.
*ARRIVAL Please arrive for all rehearsals on time and in Base Layer, Hair and Make up. Your Base Layer is an undergarment, please wear something over it. A zip up or button down shirt and bottoms works great! We know it is a quick turnaround from school dismissal...it is a rite of passage for theater kids to eat and change in the car! :) NO jewelry or Nail Polish, Hair Bands should be the color of their hair, or neutral..no pink, green, etc…
*NO FOOD Please bring your theater bag with your script, pencil, shoes and water bottle. Please ALWAYS eat before you come...there is NO food backstage or in the theater OR eating in costumes or mics.
*DROP OFF - Please walk your child up to the front door of JG. We will be at the door farthest to the left, near Wallace. DO NOT enter near the playground. You should "hand your child off" to an NTS employee...please do not drop them off, even if the doors happen to be open.
We will not know that they are there. We will come out to the door to receive children AT call time. If the JG parking lot is congested, please feel free to park on the street and walk up to the door.
*PICK UP - We will open the doors and parents will come in to the lobby to pick up students. We will not allow students to leave the building without a parent.
*LATE ARRIVAL If you are late for arrival, please TEXT 615-477-1628 and someone will come out to let you in when we can. Please do not call, we will be in the middle of rehearsal and unable to answer the phone.
